![]() ![]() So we started with RNMP, then it spiralled taking in YNP, Tetons and Mt Rushmore. The trip idea basically started by taking a world atlas and noticing that the area around Denver/Wyoming looked very mountainous and we thought that would be a nice place to do some hiking in. Hi all, part of our predicament is that the flights are booked. (we rented a Mercedes in Germany last week for 8 days for $150 and an upgrade coupon with Avis so really expected car-friendly America not to be so expensive)Ĭan anyone recommend any rental companies that could help or any suggestions to reduce cost? Thanks to you all for your suggestions! ![]() Other posters mentioned that it is prudent in the mountains to have a decent car so we can't do without, but we really can't afford that sort of cost. However, can't seem to find bus services to go where we want to! Overall the amount of rental days is the same but we would eliminate one way rental costs and it might be cheaper as we can take advantage of small (cheaper) local companies and hopefully special deals. Pick up a rental car for a week to do the Tetons and Yellowstone, drop it back, either to Jackson Hotel/Bozeman or W.Yellowstone, then catch a bus to Rapid City where we could pick up another rental car for the few days we are there. Catch a bus to Jackson Hole- looking out at the scenery going by. ![]() $750 for the 2 weeks so this is coming as a major shock.Īre now wondering could we rent a car in Denver for a few days when we are there. We had sort of *naively* expected to pay ca. Costs will always be a little higher because we drop off to a different location. Rapid City is a minor car rental depot and not all the companies will let you drop off there so it redces our optionsĢ. National are quoting $1563 for bottom of the range economy car for 15 days. We haven't organised car hire yet and are aghast at the prices. Flights and accomodation are all booked months ago and can't be changed. We will visit Tetons, Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore on the way. We are flying into Denver and out of Rapid city last 2 weeks of August. ![]() ![]() Tisdahl recently had to concede, "I feel bad when telling these new police and fire recruits that we will be able to pay them these promised benefits, because we probably will not." Los Angeles looks gorgeous in this game, the wandering undead doing little to dull its sunny sheen. It’s a vessel for getting the player character from one beautiful, zombie-infested locale to another. And that’s basically it - the story’s not complicated, nor does it need to be. It falls on their shoulders to find a way for their group to escape LA or at least outlast the zombie horde. The Slayer falls in with a group of other survivors, a motley crew of celebrities, hangers-on and survivalists. City of Angels and Demons: What’s to likeĭead Island 2’s story is certainly a story. They link up with and help other survivors and (unintentionally) discover the truth of the outbreak along the way. The player chooses one of them and must cut a bloody swathe through LA with whatever guns, knives and sharp sticks they can lay their hands on. One of the last evacuation planes crashes with six people - the player characters, or Slayers - aboard. It’s not a great game, but it’s a good game, and I think that was all anyone was expecting.ĭead Island 2 takes place in Los Angeles, in the middle of a zombie plague that has turned most of the city into gibbering undead. Dead Island 2 came out functional (which is admittedly more than can be said for some of its neighboring game releases) and its lighthearted sense of humor is the icing on the cake. What has Dead Island 2 become after all that time? Put simply, it’s an acceptable, enjoyable gorefest with enough splattery, cartoonish violence that it outweighs the uncreative gameplay. I just felt the need to acknowledge it upfront. But this is still a game with an MSRP of $70, so it doesn’t get off easy no matter how difficult the journey was. It feels like watching someone limp over the finish line of a marathon on two freshly broken legs and mocking their form. Given how long it’s taken for Dead Island 2 to release, and how torturous the road to get to its launch has reportedly been, I almost don’t want to criticize it. We're thrilled to announce the return of GamesBeat Summit Next, hosted in San Francisco this October, where we will explore the theme of "Playing the Edge." And, another part of this treating the necromorphs in the right way, you know how Doom Guy is rarely ever thrown around, and when he is it doesn't do that much to him because otherwise it would make him look weaker? A similar thing applies to necromorphs. And your objective stops being about them, it's no longer about surviving them anymore, it's about protecting Ellie and exploring this weird alien city. They're now obstacles in your path, being excessively used like a tool by the villains. In dead space 3, they stop being treated like that. They are the cause of all the hell you go through, and they are your focus, your objective in a way. In dead space 1 and 2, necromorphs are treated like an actual threat. ![]() There's a few parts to this whole idea that I need to explain out. ![]() I wont say that it isn't a good game, because it's a good game (though many things are basic and I find few things to praise), but my personal biggest issue with it is that it stops feeling like a dead space game. the game has its strengths, but for me the weaknesses outweigh them by a big margin. Even when I had plenty of ammo and the highest armor available and completely upgraded weapons I felt on edge in DS1 and 2, which just never happened in 3 for me.

Most believe that the center of the disk is the North Pole and that Antartica is actually a wall of ice that surrounds the dome.īasically, flat-earth proponents believe the whole world is kind of like a massive version of The Truman Show. Usually, they follow a more or less ancient concept of cosmology: a flat disk, covered by a hard dome that is the sky, and celestial bodies move across the surface of the dome. Generationally, Millennials and Gen-Z are far more likely than Boomers and Gen-X to disagree or show uncertainty that the earth is a sphere, so it’s getting worse, not better. Yep, various studies have shown that at least 10% of the population believes that the earth is flat and that up to 30% are not certain that it is a sphere. I was a bit shocked to discover that friends and even fellow seminary students were, in fact, devoted flat-earthers! Are there actually people who believe the earth is flat?
